YOU'LL NEED:

For the loaf:


1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg   

1/4 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 apple, peeled, cored, and diced

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

For the glaze (optional):


1/4 cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon milk


HOW TO MAKE:

Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan.

Combine dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Add wet ingredients: Beat in the egg, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Combine wet and dry: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Add apples: Gently fold in the diced apples.

Prepare swirl: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon.

Assemble: Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly over the batter. Pour the remaining batter over the brown sugar mixture. Gently swirl the two layers with a knife.

Bake: Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool: Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Glaze (optional): Whisk together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled loaf.
